Weighted Scoring Leaderboard


We’re excited to introduce a new weighted scoring system for this league that will be in effect for weeks 2 through 6! Some players from past leagues suggested this idea, which is commonly used in other ladder leagues. We’re giving it a try to see what you think! If it’s not well-received, we’ll adjust or remove it in future leagues. 😊 Below are the details:


Moving Tiers from Week-to-Week

The system we use for adjusting tiers from week to week will remain unchanged:

  • Players will move up or down tiers weekly based on Winning % (primary) and average game point differential (tiebreaker) vs. the players on their tier that week.

  • Typically:

    • 2 players move up

    • 2 players move down

    • 0-2 players stay in the same tier


What is Weighted Scoring?

The weighted scoring system will determine an overall leaderboard and help rank players against the entire league by the season’s end. Think of it as an additional way to track your overall performance!

  • The weighted scoring leaderboard will be active from Week 2 through Week 6.

  • Players will earn points each week based on this formula:

Tier Value + Percentage of Points Won that Week


Tier Values:

  • Tier 1: 100

  • Tier 2: 85

  • Tier 3: 70

  • Tier 4: 55

  • Tier 5: 40 (Does not apply to Early Bird League)

  • Tier 6: 25 (Does not apply to Early Bird League)


Examples:

  • Example 1:

    • I win 60% of the total points on Tier 2.

    • My weighted score for the week = 85 (Tier 2 Value) + 60 (Percentage of Points Won) = 145.

  • Example 2:

    • I win 40% of the total points on Tier 1.

    • My weighted score for the week = 100 (Tier 1 Value) + 40 (Percentage of Points Won) = 140.


Weekly Updates & Prize

  • The leaderboard will be updated weekly, with players ranked based on their average weighted score.

  • After Week 6, the player with the highest average weighted score will win a prize from Fusion Sports! 🥳


Important Reminder:

We’re still using the same system to adjust tiers weekly (Winning % first, average game point differential as tiebreaker). The weighted scoring system is just an additional tool to evaluate your overall performance at the end of the season!
